Short answer: a real Windows RDP can't cost $1 a month: the Windows Server licence, the server and the IP address together cost more than that. "$1 RDP" offers are almost always one of three things: a shared login on an overloaded machine, a trial that renews at full price, or access to someone else's hacked computer, which is illegal to buy or use. The cheapest honest option here is Windows RDP at $13 a month, or $11.05 a month paid yearly; Linux starts at $3.90.
"1 dollar RDP" is a popular search for an understandable reason: you need a Windows machine for a small job and don't want to pay much. Here's what you actually get at each price point, and how to pay as little as possible without ending up with something that breaks or gets you in trouble.
01Why Windows Can't Cost $1
A Windows RDP has three fixed costs that come before any profit:
The Windows Server licence
Hosting providers pay Microsoft a monthly licence fee for every Windows server they rent out.
The server
CPU cores, RAM and NVMe storage in a data centre with power, cooling and staff.
A clean IP address
IPv4 addresses are scarce and have a real market price.
Add bandwidth, DDoS protection and support, and a dedicated Windows server lands in the low double digits per month. Anyone charging $1 is cutting one of these corners.
02What $1 Offers Usually Are
If the price can't cover the licence, ask what the seller is really selling.
| Offer | What it really is | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| "$1 RDP, instant" | A user account on a shared Windows machine | Slow, others can see processes, the IP is often blocklisted |
| "$1 first month" | A trial | Renews at the normal price; read the fine print |
| "$1 hourly" | Cloud billing per hour | A month costs far more than $1 |
| "Cheap RDP" on forums and chats | Often access to a hacked PC or server | Illegal to buy or use; can be taken away anytime; your data is visible to whoever sold it |
The last row matters. Many ultra-cheap RDPs are sold from compromised machines, real people's or companies' computers. Using one is unauthorised access in most countries, and the "seller" can watch everything you do on it. Don't.
03The Cheapest Honest RDP
On Rdp.Vision the smallest Windows RDP is your own Windows Server, not a shared login:
| Term | Price per month | Paid upfront |
|---|---|---|
| 1 month | $13.00 | $13.00 |
| 3 months (−5%) | $12.35 | $37.05 |
| 6 months (−10%) | $11.70 | $70.20 |
| 12 months (−15%) | $11.05 | $132.60 |
That's 2 vCPU, 6 GB RAM and 40 GB NVMe, Windows Server 2019, 2022 or 2025 with the licence included, full administrator access and its own IP address. Same price in every location: Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Warsaw, Romania, New York or Hong Kong.
Full RDP access · NVMe storage · DDoS protection · No setup fee
04Ways to Pay Less
- 1Pay for longer. 12 months saves 15% and brings Windows to $11.05 a month.
- 2Use a cheap network to pay. USDT or USDC on BEP20 or Solana costs cents to send; TRC20 and ERC20 add a surcharge. See How to Buy RDP with Crypto.
- 3Ask whether you need Windows at all. Bots, scripts, VPNs and websites run on a Linux VPS from $3.90 a month. Need a desktop on Linux? It takes 10 minutes.
- 4Refer someone. Every server a referred customer buys earns you 10%, which you can turn into account credit.
05Cheap vs Shared vs Dedicated: How to Tell
Before you pay for any cheap RDP, check:
- Do you get administrator rights? If not, it's a shared login.
- Can you reinstall the system yourself? Shared and hacked machines never allow it.
- Is the Windows licence included? Unlicensed Windows nags and restarts.
- Is there a company, terms and a refund policy? A Telegram handle alone isn't a provider.
Our anonymous RDP checklist goes through all eight checks, and Windows 11 RDP explains why cheap "Windows 11" offers are a red flag.
Not for a dedicated Windows server for a month. $1 offers are shared logins, trials, hourly prices or access to hacked machines.
