For crypto nodes

Verify it yourself. Run your own node.

The large disk is a hard drive. That suits Bitcoin, Litecoin and Monero nodes; an Ethereum node needs fast SSD storage and won’t keep up on it.

Don’t trust. Verify. On a machine that stays online.

One file, then let it sync.

Mount the large disk, point Bitcoin Core at it and give it a bigger cache. The first sync takes a while; after that it keeps up on its own.

bitcoin.conf
# keep the chain on the large disk
datadir=/data/bitcoin

server=1
dbcache=3000
maxconnections=40

# the RPC port stays closed to the internet
rpcbind=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

Questions? Answers.

The full blockchain is well over half a terabyte and keeps growing. The 1 TB plan fits it today; 2 TB leaves room for an Electrum server index and years of growth.
